• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Thanks for that, Rod....I saw 16 Spitfires and Hurricanes at Fairford earlier this year which was a pretty impressive site.
 
Weather has improved and the sky is a mixture of clear blue and white fluffy clouds. The wind has dropped as well.

I see the take off has been delayed until 2pm so will be outside then to see what happens (we are about 2.5 miles from Goodwood).

Apparently the traffic is very heavy with extremely long queues back to Havant (10 miles) and Chichester itself not far off gridlock!

My lifelong ambition is to go up in a two-seater Spitfire.
 
Fascinating afternoon watching the various groups of aircraft taking off to the north (we can see them over the trees) and then going off in different directions. The first group circled and flew right over us.

Apparently there is a program on Channnel 4 this evening at 8 pm covering today's events.

I was hoping they might stray our way but no such luck - folks in Eastleigh and Southampton unhappy as the Spitfire originated from there.

Charles Church (the builder/developer) used to fly his Spitfire very regularly over our village, so the sound and sight of one was very common to us.
Sadly he crashed it at Blackbush, I think and was killed.
