• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

My iphone has just upgraded to 10.0.1 and a new feature is Maps Destination which is telling me quite true-fully that my car is "parked 20yrds away".
I can understand that it knows where my phone is but how can it tell where my car is?
Does it log my location when I switch off the ignition or what?

If your car has BT and its own GPS/satnav (phone syncing to car) then it's probably using a combo of those to tell you.

Would be interesting to see if you moved the car while leaving the phone in the house, then checked the phone again. My bet is it wouldn't know the car had moved...

Yes it has Mark and you have probably explained it.
It also accesses my Calendar and tells me when to set off to appointments (if I've given an exact location) and also informs me of traffic conditions along the route.
"Traffic is light, set off in 23 mins to arrive on time"

I see that Microsoft have been criticised re Win 10 that it's sending them information on users activities- far more information being gathered than is necessary for MS to improve their software.

Not got a touch screen in my car but it's got an idrive (twist, push, pull and press).
With a previous car you had to use it control the aircon which was very dangerous - thankfully they have abandoned it and now use dials on the dash.

It could haver simply deduced that you were travelling by car from your relative speed and that then you paused for a short while and were then moving at walking pace followed by you coming to rest and then display the difference in GPS position.

After googling info on this feature I found "You must have had your iPhone connected to your car via Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay for this feature to work." With this proviso, the feature is automatic and does need specific initialisation.

There is also a manual way to identify your location when you park for those with modest older vehicles without bluetooth.

Well it certainly knows my car's location- it was 220yrds away whilst waiting to be zapped now 120yrds as we are sitting in Costa Coffee.

Hope it went well, Rod. I've never had to be zapped myself, but there are a few around me who have.
 
Don't feel a thing being zapped and so far no side effects apart from getting very tired but have been warned they may come later.
Biggest issue is with travelling and waiting around so it takes a big chunk out of each day. Actual machine time allocated is 21mins but a lot of that is setting up and getting me in the exact position - I have 3 tattoos marked on my hips and midriff as aiming points [emoji3]. I also have to drink 500mls of water in the half hour before to ensure a full bladder.
Cannot eat before so we end up in either Costa Coffee or M&S Cafe situated in the hospital entrance afterwards.
Had 9, 16 more to go.

Wow, Rod! We, those who don't have to be zapped or receive stuff intravenous, just don't appreciate the lengths you have to go to. I'm only just beginning to appreciate that with a family member and close friend going through this, and now with you guys on here.

I'm humbled.
 
There's 6 machines on the go at Southampton treating dozens and dozens of patients everyday. Makes you feel humble seeing others going through a similar process.
Much better than Chemo (which had some weird side effects, though that was bearable) the first dose gave me a heart attack and I finished up in the Cardiac Care Unit for a few days followed by an angiogram carried out by David Cameron's BIL.
Revised regime that followed was OK.
Last one this week this afternoon, then the weekend off [emoji4] start again on Monday.
