Birdtable for work

So the guys at work have been whingeing on at me about building them a bird table for iutsise our window

so to save the earache every monday i decided to build one

No wip pics as i wanted to get it done

Took 4 hours all told and still need to paint it

Based in greg virgoes plans with some tweaks

Wait till the whingers ask monday lol

Very pretty but not very functional - birds are very unlikely to nest on top of a food table frequented by others and cut some gaps in the food table’s “walls” to allow drainage.
Left like that any food and rain will create a soup and go mouldy.

I told them that birds wouldnt nest there to be fair though we are on the edge of town surrounded by fields so nesting spots are not in short supply

You cant see it but i drilled holes around the edge for drainage also added foot pads and stake holes to keep it secured in the wind

Nice looking table. If birds don't use the nest box, wasps or bees might.

Here’s one I made years ago which is easy to clean and has an “open” top. The vegetation has taken over, over the years.

It wasn’t meant as a criticism of yourself but the designer who probably doesn’t know much about birds though he got the hole diameter right. Much better to leave it as a feeding table.

Very nice Ian - well done chap.

Mrs P asked me to make one for her ages ago. She eventually gave up and bought a set of hanging jobbies. We get through loads of bird feed.

So we now have 2 nesting pairs table was used constantly until we spotted the nesting now we have stopped feeding till these guys are done

Very satisfying to watch your work get good use

Built some bits for a mates beehive too earlier in the year cant wait for the honey
