Old Oak
Had a grand couple of days down in Maidstone, Kent I’d traveled down with my mate Jon to go to the FFX tool show, while there we met up with an old forumite & friend Simon from Oryx Design host of several get togethers.
After the show & obligatory curry Simon invited us to pop over to his workshop on Saturday morning an offer readily accepted as it had to be around 10 years since Tom & he organised Ye olde Kent bash at the workshop & I was keen to see how it had evolved.
After a guided tour of his really well organised shop Simon showed us the processes involved in programming & cutting out on his cnc, this is the name plaque he drew & routed in an Oak off cut.

I don’t know how to upload a video but if you want to see the machine in action Cutting the name I posted a video on my Instagram feed.
He also showed us the collaspable saw horse he had designed & made on the cnc

He refers to it as the mark one as he has plans to reduce the amount of board left in the finished horse to reduce the weight but for such a simple slot together design it was remarkably sturdy, definitely on my wish list.
I’ve not had anything to do with cnc’s before but have to admit to being so impressed with them, their scope seems only limited by the imagination, if only I had more space :eusa-think:
