• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

For those that might care about such things, this is a summary of the similarities and differences of two Bosch mitre saw stands, the Bosch GTA 2600 and the Bosch PTA 2400. They are essentially the same core stand with different attachments, so price comparison between these versions may be worthwhile depending on your needs, or if you have one and need to get another the same height, you can mix and match.

The main body of the stands is identical: tubular steel tops, steel fold down legs, one adjustable foot, height and width the same. No differences.

The support arms are almost identical: simple supports, same size stop plates (although different colors), but note that the total length is different. Each arm of the support is 100mm shorter on the Bosch PTA 2400. The clue is in the name: 2600 and 2400 are the total widths of the stands including the support arms.

Brackets for attaching the saw to the stand are quite different: The Bosch GTA 2600 brackets have a support surface of about 50mm x 526mm. The Bosch PTA 2400 brackets are the same width, but much shorter with a support surface of about 50mm x 400mm. Again, the color is different, but in addition, the slots for bolt holes are different. The Bosch GTA 2600 brackets have two asymmetrical slots. The Bosch PTA 2400 brackets have two centred slots.

GTA 2600 BRACKET DIMENSIONS

The support surface of each bracket is about 50mm x 526mm.
There are two M8 slots going front-to-back in each bracket.
The centre of the front slot is 25mm from either side.
The centre of the back slot is 32mm from one side and 18mm from the other.

The front slot also has a left-to-right slot going across it which gives 10mm of movement to either side of the 25mm centre. If you decide to use the left-to-right slot, you give up using the front-to-back slot for the front fixing. You must use the left-right slot if you want both your fixings to be the same left-right distance from the outside edge.

The front-back distance between two M8 fixings in a bracket can be in one of two ranges:
1. 190mm-460mm if you use the left-right slot to position your front fixing
2. 70mm-470mm if you do not use the left-right slot to position your front fixing

PTA 2400 BRACKET DIMENSIONS

The support surface of each bracket is about 50mm x 400mm.
There are two M8 slots going front-to-back in each bracket.
The centre of both slots is centred in the bracket 25mm from either side.

Your fixings must be the same left-right distance from the outside edge because both slots are in line with each other.

The front-back distance between two M8 fixings in a bracket is approximately in the range 70mm-340mm

PTA 2400 BRIDGE PIECES

Although it may seem like the PTA 2400 is slightly worse, it has a trick up its sleeve, it comes with two further pieces of metal which are intended to be used to span the left-right gap between the brackets. These would make it very easy to create a bridge of 564 mm between the brackets. These bridging pieces have additional slots providing further options for M8 fixings.

(You could use a single PTA 2400 bridge piece with the GTA 2600 brackets, but the asymmetrical slots mean that you couldn’t use both pieces on the same set of brackets at the same time).

The PTA 2400 also comes with additional bolts, wing nuts, and large washers compared to the GTA 2600. The pieces that slide into the brackets are unpainted and have nuts welded to them rather than being painted with a square hole and using a carriage bolt as you find on the GTA 2600.

That about covers it. The Bosch GTA 2600 and Bosch PTA 2400 are the same core stand, the PTA 2400 has slightly shorter extendable support arms, and the attachments for fixing the mitre saw are different - but not obviously better or worse - between the two models.

Note that these stands are very different from the GTA 2500 and GTA 3800 stands which are aluminum with a different shape. GTA 2600 and PTA 2400 are heavy, steel stands with brackets designed to attach to tubular steel.

No supplier of these products lists the same height for these stands, so here's my measurements:

The distance from the floor to the top of the round bars is ~825mm
The distance from the floor to the top of a bracket is ~865mm
