Rather than butt into Robert's thread on his desk, I thought I'd start a new topic.
The reason I asked about coloured resin in his thread is that part of the stash of recently purchased timber was a thick board of green pippy oak which had already started to split badly, in no small way down to me as I didn't store it properly
However it seems to be a crying shame to discard certain bits of it because of a few measly splits, so the thought was going through my pea sized brain that perhaps I could use it for say, a series of door panels or drawer fronts and highlight the 'defects' (in the best tradition of Alan Peters) by using a contrasting, coloured resin?
Just an idea floating around in the ether at the moment but....
...I wondered if it could be applied to something like this classic Scandi piece from the mid 20th cent, which may be the next project in the 'shop. This instant I saw this pic some years ago it ticked ALL the boxes and without a doubt floated my particular boat
Suggestions also for a black frame, apart from solid ebony or Bog Oak, both of which a doable but spendy? - Rob
