• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Purchased this glue expecting it to mix to a smoothe paste but it just stays powdery. Tried a test on some scrap wood leaving it over night and did not glue at all. Never used to happen like this. Does anyone use cascamite?

Is that an old tub of it? Cascamite was bought by Ureka who sorted out the problems that had crept in. Up until recently they were giving away free samples to prove it was okay - I go some and they are fine.

That looks like a old tub of Cascamite? Ureka now manufacture it and have sorted out the problems created by the previous owner messing around with it. There was quite a lot of online discussion about the problems at the time. Ureka gave free samples to prove it works fine again and I have found that it does.

Sort of old I purchased it about two years ago but it was the same when I purchased it. I just machined some beech strips up yesterday and thought I'd try mixing some up to glue them together then remembered how naff it was. Cascamite used to mix up really smoothe and was a cream colour when mixed it was very strong when set. The old cascamite would keep for quite a long time in storage but this stuff made by POLYVINE is useless.

I thought I was going mad but this thread is duplicated!

Yes - it was Polyvine who meddled with it.

I’ve got several of the sample tubs still - if you want one to try pm me your address and I’ll post one to you.

Well yes I did accidently duplicate this thread but can't find a way to delete the other one so it's still up sorry.

I made a search on the web and it came back with BREWERS (Paint Suppliers) selling Cascamite made by POLYVINE which is the same rubbish I got and wasted my money on. A further search comes back with the one you mention made by Ureka so I'll be trying some of that out.

It is very kind of you to offer me one of your sample tubs but I'll take your work for it and make the purchase (will save you a bit of time). Mark

Cascamite reputation was wrecked by polyvine and in the meantime people have used lots of other good adhesives. Will be interesting to see if the brand ever recovers.

+1 the ureka version is fine though, have had nothing but good results with it so far.
