Cereal shovel...

SWIMBO's idea here; a cereal shovel in an oddment of English Walnut (needed to be a food safe wood) started yesterday afternoon and finished just now. Based on a much smaller one in Olive we bought from the garden centre a while back. A 75mm deep hole bored with a 45mm Forstner bit and then the bottom cleaned up (as best as possible) with scrapers; interior sanded holding the Abranet in a pair of forceps:



Finished with a coat of Chestnut 'Food Safe' oil - Rob

Are those copper wire burnt rings on the handles Rob.
They look very smart.
I’ve never found pouring cereals direct from the packet to be a problem though.

Rings on the handle done with a triangular 'V' shaped lathe tool (don't know the correct name). The pic below shows our cereal buckets, the rhs is my muesli concoction which consists of loads of organic jumbo oats, granola of some sort and a muesli base from Waitrose.



The lhs bucket has my organic wheat bran; I'll have a scoop full each morning on top of the muesli + chopped apple + blueberries + 'nana and whatever else I can cram into my bowl - Rob

Stangely, oats is about the best breakfast you can have. I can't abide the texture of cooked oats aka porridge which makes me want to throw up, but oats on it's own with toppings and fruit is yummy - Rob

Edit - milk needed as well in case you were wondering, organic skimmed natch. My little grandson, now nearly two will sit down to a full sized, adult portion of porridge topped with blueberries and happily shovel it all away.
