• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

With the mercury creeping Northwards, it’s just about bearable in the Dangerous Sports Club down at the end of the garden. Thought i’d introduce myself. I’m a small-time restorer and furniture maker… with cavernous holes in my knowledge. I don’t purport to be any expert, but perhaps the annals of ‘my great failures’ can contribute to the collective wisdom of the hive-mind.

I’m off to post some naive questions here and there, hoping for a friendly bunch of Wood Haverners…. Is there a collective noun for the users of this site?

In my mid-forties, I’m neither a whipper-snapper, nor am I fully ready to be an old-fart!

While we are (probably) weighted toward 60-ish plus [Alisdair? How can we pull statistics on WH2 populace please?] it is also fair to say that we are lively and simultaneously, of an empathic bent (stop sniggering down the back!) so post away and enjoy!

Not bad...
according to the database (and this is totally anonymous!) 10% of members have a year of birth - our oldest is 119 ;) and our youngest is 11 :D
Average age is 58+ no guarantees of accuracy - and I am sure that age is a mental state not a calendar fact!
 
I qualified for concessionary tickets for a show at my daughter's uni a week or so back. I was mortified.
