• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I purchased a D4/D4R on the used market. It is missing the two clamp bars. Leigh (LeeValley) want $80 each for replacements. I plan to make replacements out of hard maple. I just need someone to kindly measure the height and width of the cross section. The length I can get from the jig itself.

Hi and welcome Skye, Perhaps you can tell us a little about yourself and the sort of things you make, and we all love photos.
I’m quite possibly near you being just outside Boston?
Edit, got it now, it’s the Leigh Dovetail jig, Didn’t ring any bells even though I’ve got one, but sorry Ske it’s back in the uk.
And when you get it up and running you will find out I’m sure that it’s a beggar to set up and whilst it’s very good, changing it to do lap dt’s after through dt’s and then again for a drawer of a different height will convince you that it’s quicker to do them by hand,— sorry.
I’m sure someone will be along tomorrow with the sizes.

Please discount all below. Ian
I wasn’t sure what the cramp bars are that you are looking for but I did find this, do you have a little more info please as I’m sure this isn’t it lol. Ian

I have the Leigh D4R Pro, so hopefully the clamp bars are the same for your jig. The image below shows the top clamp bar. The front clamp bar is the same size.

The bars are not rectangular, but are a trapezoid. The base of the bar (closest to the jig) is about 28mm wide. The top of the bar (where the clamps attach) is about 22mm wide. The height of the bar is about 40mm.

Thank you so much for the dimensions. That will give me a good idea how to make some maple replacements.

I live near Manchester NH about an hour north of Boston. I have been woodworking my whole life on and off. The last ten years not so much because work got in the way. But now I am retired and had hoped to have more time. That is not proving to be the case as my in-laws are living with us and have significant health issue they need help with.
I have primarily been making furniture in cherry. End tables, stools, tables, my mother’s urn, and other such items. I also make large batches of rubber band powered ping pong ball catapults for kids. My current work is mostly shop infrastructure projects for the new house we moved to.
The jig I bought for a fraction of its going cost. I have heard it’s only good for large batches as it’s a royal pain to adjust. I have the Woodsmith version that has similar issues. What I like about the Leigh is the 24” working width. I will try to post some photos in the next few days.

Welcome to WH2. Looking forward to seeing what you've made and are currently making and before anyone else adds their two Euros's worth:ROFLMAO:, we like pictures - Rob
