I saw this somewhere (WH1?) where you can copy or download a whole thread easily for reading or if your own one for modifying.
For example Bob’s BRUB thread.

Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi Phil,
In PHPBB speak we have the hierarchy:- Board-forums-topics and posts in order top to bottom.
You can download a complete* topic using the printer icon at the top right of each topic. you can then select either to print on paper or print to a file or create a pdf depending on the drivers installed on your computer.
* this might be limited to the posts in a complete page, so a long topic would mean say creating a number of PDFs and using acrobat to concatenate them into a single pdf document using your own software. Not sure on this detail.
Having a complete topic in editable form does not quite make sense nor is it allowed as it would give access to change other peoples text. Only Mods & admin can do that.
The nearest you can get is to hit the edit button on you own individual post and then select and paste that into a word processor of you choice. This will not give you visible pictures, only the links to where they are located. You can edit away offline and then repost when complete. you need to be careful though as if others have posted in the meantime, your edit may make a nonsense of their post.
Editing is best done in realtime online as you will be alerted to subsequent posts and can re-edit if needed.
Working from fading, senile memory

Bob, my memory is not up to much either sometimes but I do think Phil is right. Of course how it was done is beyond me but I have found something that Mark maybe able to work on. I'll post details in the Mod board.

I don't want to change other peoples posts, but would like to download/print to read when I have more time like your BRUB one.
I will try the print button and see if it gives me what I want.
My own threads that I start, I do it in Word with all the Photobucket links and then post. And when I do any updates, the .doc just gets updated and the new section posted on the forum. That way I have it on my laptop and it gets backed up.

Right, some progress!
I did the print button thing and used the Cute-PDF printer on the laptop.
What I ended up with is a very nice PDF file, saved and printed for reading later on.
