Energy supplier DD calculations.

I'm currently on a dual fuel deal with Eon ( fixed 1 year version 19 with several moths to run still)

Yesterday I gave my meter reading so they could complete my 1st year review. Current DD is £56pcm and looking pretty close to balance out within a few quid for the year - great.

However, an email this morning says we need to put up your DD to £64 in order to balance out correctly in 12 months time. Hmm!

So I go on line to their DD manager page and grab the DD adjuster until the "meter" goes red and add £1 to bring it back to amber ie the minimum they will accept. Setting =£52

A few mins later an email thanks me for using their online tool to adjust my DD down from £64 to £52 ( ie £12 less per month) and stating that I am on track for a zero balance in October 2017.

So I can only conclude that their first adjustment calculation deliberately sets out to put me £144 in credit by next October - that is 23% more that I need to pay them.

How do they get this past the regulator and where can I complain about this? ofgem I suppose.

PS I can't grumble at all about the actual cost of my fuel which really benefits from my solar systems.

I'm with Scottish Power, when I fed in my meter readings, although I was in credit they wanted to put my DD from £85/m to £365!!
The lowest I could take it down on their sliding scale was £256.
I then noticed a link to "Are you on the best tariff?" which took me to an assessment page where it offered me a 12 month fixed tariff
of £88/m. As my existing tariff was due to end in a couple of months anyway I opted for that ( after checking with uswitch etc against other offers).
A bit later I noticed a message page with a letter to me dated the day before which said my new monthly payments should be £154 for electricity and zero for gas - obviously some serious issues with their computer system!!
I got confirmation about the new tariff so didn't bother ringing them up but will next time if it happens again.
