• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I was noodling about yesterday by the pond waterfall and suddenly spotted this green, slithery thing:

...disappearing under a lily leaf. I like dragons and have got several indoors (alas not real ones😢) but it appears they were once a 'thing' long ago:

...so I wondered if one had started to frequent my pond? My next door neighbour, who's a ecologist and knows a thing or twelve about beasties reckoned it's a grass snake but I'm not convinced. Definitely a dragon! - Rob

I too *like dragons*... have a few scattered around the garden, a wooden one, hanging on my wall and a book on them. Getting the grandson interested in them as much as I can - he's well in to dinosaurs (like his uncle 😀).

Oh! Your neighbour may well be correct in that it's a grass snake... however, I can confirm that 'snakes' - grass or otherwise - are descended from dragons 🐉 😎

He's a very handsome chap, looks like he's carved in Rosewood or similar; this a Japanese 'water dragon' netsuke:

...that belongs to SWIMBO, early 19th century (Edo period) and very intricately carved from a Narwhale tusk - Rob

I know, one of my favourites. Nesuke now fascinate me, especially the old ones (200years old +) that have had a 'life'; I wish sometimes they could talk and tell me their stories, as with your dragon. How old is he, where did he come from, who owned him etc - Rob
 
Yes... if only they could 'talk' and tell us about the people who owned them over the years since they became 'dragon' instead of, in your case, a Narwhale tusk - if it stayed in that first family, handed down through the years...?

Mine? I don't think it has any age as such - definitely not the 200+ years as yours. A tourist piece off a market stall or in a small tourist shop? I'll find out soon. Meanwhile, my others are from garden ornaments, cement/concrete mix, 2 sleeping, 1 'on guard', a dragon head and a 'baby'... photos of them to follow if wished?
