• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

The Festool road show is coming to my local Axminster store on Friday has anyone been to one.
Is it worth going or is it a waste of time.

The blue and green stuff is undoubtedly very good quality but chuffing expensive.
Readily justified for trade users no doubt by but I struggle to convince myself I will use them enough.

Just starting a job here today and thinking a domino would have been ideal (40 x 22mm faceframe work) but to be honest pocket hole joinery will work for me.

I been to one in Malaga....for me it was a good excuse to have a afternoon off work, sometimes there's freebies and raffles....over here its free beer and tapa and lots of woody talk.

If you want a chance to hold, get a feel for & use a prospective purchase then the roadshow is a good opportunity to do just that, I’ve been to a couple when I’ve been in the market for Festool gear as the reps are on hand to answer any questions & run you through the use of the tool.

You won’t be buying the merchandise direct from Festool but from the retailer where the lorry is parked up, so while there may be concessions this is down to the individual retailer so it’s wise to pick out the best location. I’ve a mate who’s driven down to Western Super Mare today to Nuts & Bolts as they are very keen with their prices.

Personally these days I prefer the D&M or FFX shows to purchase gear but the roadshow is still worth a visit if it’s local to you.

I will never know if my Kapex is only doing what a cheaper tool would do, but so far it has been spot on accurate and the dust extraction via my modified extraction hose coupling and shop vac is excellent.
Bought from FFX during one of their special offer periods.

I agree Bob, it is expensive but provided you're very selective on how you wield the CC (we've had this conversation elsewhere :D ) it is without doubt worth the wonga. For example, were you to invest in a Domino you'd find yourself doing all sorts of work that you might otherwise steer clear of. I've got a few bits n'peices of Festooly gear but I haven't gone bonkers with it...perhaps the thing I use least of all is the TS55 track saw but that's useful for the Parf table and sheet goods - Rob

I have to be honest although I am in the market for a CMS I think the Kapex is well outside of my budget even the cheapest is double what I am thinking of spending on the Bosch saw.
They are offering a bacon butty and a goody bag as it is 5 mins in the car from my house it might be interesting to have a look.

I've a couple of bits of blue n green Versace [emoji14]... The best buys for me have been the Track saw (years old), Domino jointer (now really expensive) and CXS 10.8 drill which tbh is my favourite and has taken an absolute beating [emoji23] The KS60 is a nice compact and portable chopsaw, but so is the cheaper, rebranded ELU by DeWalt (707?)

Most of the other bits though good aren't a huge improvement (bang for buck) over the other leaders like Bosch, DeWalt and Makita ....the later two have a huge range of cordless options.

If it's convenient it might be fun to go to the roadshow, sometimes there are a few special deals (vouchers) and freebies, and if Festool Phil is running the show, he's helpful, knowledgeable and easy to chat to.... And you can always pop into Axi [emoji847]

I did not go to the festool roadshow in the end it was packed parking was indeed a nightmare with neighbouring businesses very unhappy with the Axminster staff.
To make matters worse they ran out of goodie bags but worst of all they ran out of bacon sandwiches which as you had to register for both I don’t understand.
