• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Changing the blade yesterday, I think I managed to 'lose' the lock washer inside the TS55. I say 'I think' as I heard a metal on metal sound and thought it was the washer landing on the replacement blade. But I couldn't see it anywhere. So I've come to the conclusion that it is somewhere inside but where? Given it a good shake but the only thing that fell out was sawdust. So looks like a dismantling job. Never done it before and so any tips welcome.

Should it turn out that it's gone where all the tape measures go and PAC1's ruler then where is the best place to buy one from? Also might as well get a new fixing bolt.

TIA

Does it rattle when you shake it?
No it doesn’t which surprises me. I did wonder it did hit the other blade and bounced off somewhere. Trouble is I was cutting that lovely NoMorePlus rubbish outside on the drive. Which is stony and similar in colour. I used the nail detector over the area but it failed to find it. Guess it’s possible it bounced farther

You used a good saw to cut cement board with, if you still lived up the road from me I would have droped my old Bosch saw of with a PCD blade in for you to use. As for finding a washer, get a decent magnet on a pole and you stand a chance. I lost a spring from a machine that I know landed just outside and found it eventually using one of my super rods and the magnet.

I salvage iridium magnets from old computer hard drives
Last time I used one was to retrieve the neighbours car key from the drain.

Ta da !

It was inside after all. While moving it about, upside-down etc I heard a couple of rattles and then back to silence and so clearly getting wedged somewhere/somehow. I started to undo the five 2.5mm Allen keys which was when I found out that the Festool engineers had managed to round over three of them when the saw went in for repair some years ago. So that wasn't going to work.

Plan B was to keep knocking the saw - front down - onto a bit of hard rubber on the floor. And out it popped.
