• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I made a start on this bed yesterday. This time is is a child's bed with a carriage design. The wheels took some making!

The frame was much easier being a basic design.

Should get a start on the sides tomorrow. :D

I seem to Steve. No the wheels are just for show.
I got the head and foot board completed today.

Then made a start on one of the sides.

I couldn't get the complete side out of one sheet so had to add a section hence the clamps. Will get the other side cut out tomorrow using this one as a template.

Yes Andy, I am painting it too. Today I got the sides cut out and finished and fitted to the bed frame. They will be removable for transport of course.

Next on the list is the canopy and the details which will be a job for Monday.

I hope not Rod, or the customer might complain. I managed to get this just about finished in between doing an outside job yesterday. Should be delivering it next week.

Very nice, but I have come to expect nothing less from you!

One question on the actual frame, what do you use to joint the side rails to the head and foot boards, dominoes?

Terry.

That turned out really nice. The only quibble I have is - was there no way to hide/disguise the actual bed legs? Could you have stretched where the wheels came to or curved the legs to fit the wheel?

I know it is easy for me to suggest these things, not really thinking through the practicalities, but I think it would take a really nice bed to a super special bed.

Still. I have a princess who still shares a bottom bunk with her brother and would die for that!!

H.

Thanks guys. As for the legs H, I have to fit it between both walls so the wheels couldn't cover them. I could have moved the legs closer in but it would have meant re designing the whole frame and I did want to be able to remove the 'carriage' at a later date to turn it into a standard bed as the child grows out of it.
You are correct Terry they are held with Dominos on the ends. There are two large Dominos at each end with a coach bolt between them, there are then pockets for the nuts to tighten the frame together. I shall be delivering it on Thursday so will get some pics of it in place. ;)

I got this installed today and did try to get a pic of it in place but the room was so small I couldn't get it all in. I took this one which shows the bed with the mattress fitted but without any bedding on.

Thanks Rod, I have just stitched the two pics I took together to give a better idea of the bed in place.

That does look amazing in situ. I recind my negative comments about the bed legs - you can't even see them :)

price it up and start offering it to local furniture stores... could be a winner.
