• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Forum Testing

Thanks to Mark and all involved for all your hard work, I am looking forward to seeing the new setup.
FWIW I’m a gmail user and No email received in inbox or spam

YES!

Very big thank you to Mark and the other Mods. :eusa-clap:

I personally appreciate all the hard work and time being dedicated to the forum by the Mods. :eusa-clap:

I can only offer you 2P from here :D

For info Mark- No email received

Edit : if it helps other notifications from the forum are received fine.

Nothing here either, so I checked my global settings to ensure email contact was enabled, it was.
Cheers, Andy

As per Andy.

Will ask admin (family host site) if they are receiving anything in their junk/spam folders.

Without knowing the details, I suspect that the emailing code was simply using the built in PHP Mail function which is notoriously unreliable - when batch sending emails it just sends them all out together meaning that it is seen as spam by a lot of email servers, add in the fact shown above that the domain IP address is blacklisted means that a lot of receiving email servers may well have just rejected the email…

I wouldn’t worry - most regulars will have seen the post on here and hopefully the transition will be smooth and for others they will simply arrive and find that there is new software but they can still log in!

Great that the software is being updated and thank you to those doing the heavy lifting to make it happen.

If there is a cost involved I’d be happy to make a donation with no expectation of any additional rights or privilege. I appreciate this may be a level of complication that those running the show may not want to get into but thought it still worth offering.

Cheers

Robert

Just to be awkward, two copies of the email both arrived at the same address at 13:32 yesterday.

For anyone who was testing the new forum - it is now offline as part of the preparations for tomorrow - all testing discussion comments have been saved before I wipe the test forum...

All, slight change of plan, we’ll be starting an hour earlier at 08:00 given the amount of work required to back everything up and transfer to the new site before any other work can even begin.

Thanks
Mark

Many thanks Mark, hopefully no glitches for you along the way :text-bravo:
Cheers, Andy

I still haven't had the email, but I'm logged in to the new forum. Well done, Guys! Thank you.

Well done Alasdair (and Mark). A couple of things. I had to log in to see anything I.e. it seems that you can’t view as a visitor. Secondly, in some posts, some editing program language seems to appear e.g. :text:

Yep it’s initially set so guests can’t view, I’ll sort that later/tomorrow.

Can you put the examples of that text into the bugs post I’ve mentioned in the Notice up the top of the main screen. Ta.

Brilliant!
Works well on the phone as well as on larger screens.
Many thanks to Mark and Alasdair, as well as everyone else involved

if examples like this:

then that is simply a missing smiley… the forum has the option to add smilies as and when someone has time!

I think it’s to do with the admin email not being properly propagated when I sent it. Lot of errors in the log.

We’re up now so people will find us, and they’ll get the notice so they’ll know what’s happened. It’ll be fine.

I'm a bit late to this but thanks to Alasdair and Mark for their hard work.

Mark
