Free chairs

Out with the dog this am, and saw these sat outside the big house at the end of our street, not to our taste but could possibly go into the antiques shop our friends runs, the seats needs recovering, but the OTH used to do upholstery, if I can persuade her to take it on, the springs and webbing are in good order, and with a clean-up, and a replacement set of castors on the front legs, might be good for nothing!



We used to repair and restore chairs years ago, but the cost and effort along with fashion changes didn’t make it worthwhile, plus I got fed of trying to get them apart after they’d been bodged with modern glue, screws and nails.

Update, I met up with the lady who owned the chairs, they have 4 more, these 2 were ditched as the casters were broken, I suggested these 2 could be repaired and then kept as a set of 6, “were not at all practical” she said, and was happy to let them go, even though I offered to fix them.

She also told me there is a Captains chair in the garage, but it’s falling apart, so that may be coming my way as well, hopefully, if it does, it’s like this one I had in for repairs years ago.
