• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi Ben, and welcome. Good to see you here.

There's a pesky little 3 post barrier before the system lets you post automatically, and then you can post photos too. It's one of the reasons we have fewer trolls and spammers than elsewhere.

tyreman,
welcome, I had an engineering shop in Stockport but lived near Style......

now in the sunny south of Europe.....

:D I've only just realised that we're North of the Wall....just. Never ceases to amaze me how a long pile of stones can support a large part of the local economy.

That's barbarian country Rog, got plenty of woad? - Rob

Julius Caesar himself was fascinated by the culture. Upon meeting them (the Picts) in battle, he recorded that they “dye themselves with woad, which produces a blue color, and makes their appearance in battle more terrible"

Hence the classic......

........ Woad's the stuff to show men. Woad to scare your foe men. Hairy coats were meant for goats, yaks, gorillas, retriever dogs and llamas. Tramp up Bogon with your Woad on, never mind if we get rained or snowed on. Half a pint of woad per man'll dress much more than these.

Sung to the tune of Men of Harlech.

My old Dad used to sing that. I learned the words too, from his battered copy of the Hackney Scouts Song Book. :)
