The best Nissan commercial was for the Nissan Pathfinder where it demonstrated the fully independant suspension on all four wheels.

It takes remarkable skill to fly Harriers. I was in charge of rebuilding RAF Wittering when the GR5 was introduced and I saw them do incredible things at first hand. Most of the Red Arrows team comprised former Harrier pilots.

Imagine the cross-winds that USN pilot had to contend with! Astounding!

And easy to forget the ship must presumably have been moving at the time, so not a case of hitting a stationary target I guess.

One of the advantages of a carrier is that it can usually travel in to wind for launches and retrievals, so I wouldn't expect cross winds to be a significant factor. The main issue seemed to be that with the support in the right position, the pilot couldn't actually see it, but having practiced vertical landings in that precise position on the deck, it was an "act of faith" that the support was in the right place.

Not trying to underestimate the flying skills demonstrated here, which are considerable, but I would hope that this manoeuvre would be within the capabilities of most qualified Harrier pilots.

Don't know if anyone remembers the transatlantic air race? It was won by a Harrier and was what initially impressed our colonial cousins so much and the USMC, especially when they saw it flying between the skyscrapers in NYC and then landing in Central Park(?)
To cut a very long story sideways, I mentioned this to my very good pal Pete Newton (now very sadly deceased) who eventually became the director at Boscombe Down, just up the road from me.
