• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I’ve been a member of UKW for a bit ((and very good it is too) but I was directed here by a link to MikeG’s house renovation thread and I have just read all 114 pages of it. I know all the superlatives about Mike have been repeated many times so I won’t take up space adding more. Suffice it to say the man is a god.

For myself I am something of a bodger. My biggest project to date has been making and fitting new drawers and doors to the existing base unit and cupboard carcases in my kitchen (only ply and routed MDF I’m afraid, but I, and more importantly SWMBO, am happy with it. I’ve also replaced the staircase spindles in my Victorian house and added internal insulation to most of the walls. I’ve also had a go at box making, and hopefully starting to improve. And I’ve lost count of the bits of furniture I have repurposed as our children have grown and left home.

I’m looking forward to picking the brains of the members here, and possibly even contributing some opinions and ideas of my own.

Nick

You're very welcome, Nick.

We're a friendly lot over here as well.

Thanks Roger. I have made my first boo boo - didn't realise that my first post had to be cleared by a mod so thought I'd lost it and reposted. So please ignore it if it appears again!

Hi Nick,

Welcome from Mid-Devon.

Yes, that man is on a par with Eric Clapton! It was his threads and advice that gave me the confidence to build my own 'shop!.
