I stumbled onto Mikes build a few weeks ago and after a couple of comments on there thought I should come and introduce myself.
I have been woodworking on and off since i was around 11/12 my father worked in the village joiners shop and I would toddle along and 'help'. By 14 I was stationed at a bench with my dads old (must've been in his 70's) arthritis crippled journeyman sitting by the stove sucking on a pipe and battering me with an old knarly wooden walking stick when ever i made a mistake. He would never tell you what the mistake was just that you'd to fix it as you rubbed the back of your head where the stick caught you.
i then spent 25 years working with dad before moving on to fly a desk with a social landlord writing risk assessments as well as running and planning their maintenance service. I'm still doing that but have now dusted of the tools and am getting back into woodworking.
