• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi everyone!

Been lurking here for a while, so thought I'd sign up and say hello.

Currently trying to turn my double garage into a workshop. Would like to start doing some cabinetmaking, but have a house to finish renovating and a boat to refit first!

I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as I begin to piece my workshop together...

Hi Simon and welcome to the forum.
Sounds like you have plenty of woodworking opportunities on your "do list" before the cabinet making.

You need another couple of posts here before the anti spam measures go away and after that you will be able to post pictures ( see the guide in the tips and tutorials section)

It' s' more of a boat refit than a build - wish I had the skill for that. Will keep a blog once we get started on her. Might be a while yet as we're in the middle of a house renovation. well...I'll look forward to seeing her when you get going Simon. I owned a 30' Sealine for 3 years so understand the passion for floating things. I rather fancy renovating one too but now isn't the time for me due to young family commitments. It's quite the project isn't it? :shock:

This is our second one. The first was a little Freeman 22, loved that boat, a joy to handle, but a bit too small for two of us and two large dogs.

We laugh at it now, but I don't think the builders possessed a spirit level or square :lol:

It took us over three months to dry it out, it had stood empty with a burst pipe in the loft! Still we got a bargain, will be pleased when it's all done now - living on a building site is not fun any more.

I'll add you to the members map but Suffolk is a large county. Nearest town or first part of your post code would give us a better idea of where you are.
 
Welcome Simon. We've now almost got enough members in North Essex/ Suffolk for a GTG.:)

At a cursory glance it seems as though your house is a 60's chalet bungalow. Is that right?

Thanks for the welcome. The house is a chalet bungalow, but was built in 1993.

I'm afraid you may have to suffer a visit or two from me during that restoration. I love traditional boat-building.
