• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi my name's Ian, thanks to Mike G and Trevanian for recommending this forum from the other place.
A bit about me :- I trained as a woodwork teacher but knew I would end up murdering one of the little………… Darlings, so I went into the (non-craft related) family firm. About 15 years ago I came into some money and made the jump to full-time Cabinetmaker. I have always had a workshop and made furniture. I’m in now in my fourth workshop.
I enjoy all types of woodworking but my favourite is what I call wood engineering – things that fold, have moving parts, E.g. foldable saddle stands and rocking deckchairs. I have just finished a new bed with a moving headboard, upright or sloping.
A photo of my favourite piece, a laminated visitor book stand and the building it was for, the windows and brickwork were used for inspiration.
Now all I have to do is work out how to add photos, I added one and all was going well, went back for the second one and it’s telling me I don’t have any photos, wood I can deal with, computers are a totally different thing!

As for the photo thing Ian, I believe there is a short threshold (3 or 5 posts, or something like that) before you can post photos. It's to keep out spammers.

Wotcher from deepest Mid-Devon.

My woodwork teacher used to run guns during the Spanish Civil War, but he got me through A Level Woodwork.

Have you got any dark secrets like that?!! :)
