• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hello,
New to this board, but already finding lots of excellent info.

Having spent 12 years working overseas, I back to the UK at the end of 2015 to settle down, buy a house etc. to be able to finally get around to all the things that ai wanted to do but was unable to with moving around every couple of years.

We ended up renting a house in a nice village in a County Durham, then buying it because we liked it, and the garden has a lot of scope.

Slowly, we're working on getting it all the way we want it, with the first project post purchase all the loft insulation and reboarding, then getting onto dividing a 5m x 5m room into an occasional, spare bedroom with a fold down bed and a dining room, which will become a library when we get an extension in (planned to start next week). I'll try and post some pics of how that went, but it seemingly took ages while I figure out how to do a stud wall and other bits and bobs.

In the meantime I'm waiting for a workshop to be delivered for the back of the garden. I'm actually going for a ready made one for this, bit will be adding onduline roofing, guttering, insulating and lining shelf to keep the costs down.

To go in this, I have inherited an old wooden workbench, so will slowly be looking to start playing around with wood in my spare time.

Once this is up, a second 8x10 is planned for my wife, which decided we will build from scratch.

Looking forward to learning lots from the board here

Cheers
Dave

Welcome to the forum :)

Workshop delivery... that sounds like it will need some photos posted.

Think we all end up doing more DIY than woodworking. Sounds like you have plenty to do.

Welcome to the Haven Dave!

You are forgiven for a ready built workshop just this once as you clearly have so many other calls on your time!
Lots of first class building info here when you come to make a proper one for SWMBO.

Bob

Thanks guys, the first shed arrives today ( hopefully) so I'll start a thread in the builds section. Roofing, lining, insulating, wiring, painting, securing....
