• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Greetings. I put this in the SketchUp and CAD forum but I thought I'd post it here in an attempt to get some action. I'm wondering if I might enlist the aid of someone here who is using SketchUp 2016 Make. It won't take long and I'd be appreciative. Ideally I'd like a Mac user and a PC user for this. Drop me a PM if you can help.

Thanks in advance.

I have make 2016 installed on my PC - Win 7 ultimate. Not done the 10 upgrade yet as I'll lose media centre if I do.

Happy to help if I don't have to think too much :)

PM replied to. Feel free to ask if you need clarification.

Email reply sent with attachment.

Seemed a pretty simple request but I may have got something wrong :)

For those curious as to what it is... I sent a screenshot of the print dialog having drawn a rectangle and set the view. No idea what problem Dave is looking for but no doubt we will find out in due course.

Here's the explanation for my request.

I had an e-mail last night from a chap who asked me how to print to scale using SketchUp Make. I sent links to a couple of blog posts I've done from a few years back. After a few e-mails back and forth, it turns out the chap was refuting the claim by another guy who said you can only print to scale from SketchUp Pro. I don't have SketchUp make and didn't want to uninstall Pro, install Make and then disable the Pro trial just to prove it can still be done. Thanks to Robert and Roger for giving me the confirmation I needed.

What is confusing with full size printing is that the program wants to print everything on screen at the time you click print.

If you resize the window aspect and zoom in to fill the window with the object you can print a say 150mm square on a single sheet of paper.

If you have an object view zoomed out in the middle of an ocean of blank space you will print maybe 50 blank sheets to get the one with the object on. It prints all the blank space as blank sheets.

Admittedly it's not as intuitive as it might be but once you figure out the process, it's not so difficult. One thing that makes it easier now since SU2014 on the PC is that the toolbars don't get scrambled when you size the drawing window to fit tightly around the model. Since I have the Pro version I would always opt for printing scaled views of the model via LayOut but for the Make users, at least it can be done.

Thanks again for you help.
