• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

My father has a hardly used Minolta SLR X700 camera (bayonet mount) along with the following lenses
Minolta MD50mm 1:1.7
Wide Angle Cosinon Auto MC F2.8 35mm
Telephoto Tokian SZ820 80-200mm 1:4
All housed in a very nice Marsand Leather Case

All of these really are hardly used, as new and in excellent condition.

He has been advised by Jessops not to just dump them in the charity shop but he is without internet access so selling on ebay would be difficult. Jessops also thought that the lenses can be used on some DSLR cameras and could therefore be worth something.
I do not have pics but as I will be able to take some in a couple of weeks.

Any ideas of how best he can sell these either as a job lot or separates?

I'd have thought that getting some precise info on which digital cameras that they will fit.

Googling camera model numbers and the lens numbers should provide that. There might even be a Minolta forum that will help you and may have a for sale section.

You will possibly have to manage the sale via the internet on his behalf unless he has an internet savvy friend or neighbour. The interweb is really the only way to reach a wide selection of like-minded enthusiasts these days.

Maybe Ping Robert a PM - he is/was involved with a camera forum.

Search ebay to get an idea of values but I don't think they will be worth much.

Sony took over Minolta and kept the KM mount so they will fit Sony DSLRs but being old lenses will not work in full auto.

I've never owned minolta kit so I'm no expert. 50mm wide aperture lenses are desirable so that one may be worth £25 at a complete guess. The 35mm possibly similar on a good day and the zoom may be worth something but not a lot.

There are not many independent camera shops left but those that are may offer something for the lenses. failing that maybe look on ebay to gauge values and try a small ad in his local paper or whatever.

Robert and Bob, thank you for that. I have had a quick look around ebay but I do not think that my father could cope packing and posting them unfortunately so unless I organise everything from here that is probably a no go.

I'll check out the model numbers when I visit and se if I can find and independent shop or too around London.

There is a very good photography forum called talk photography very helpful people on all things photographic.

Thanks Kevin, I'll register and see if they can help but they have a minimum of 25 posts before a member can sell so it could be difficult.

There are a few camera shops in / around london that buy used. But as always private sales would get more . :)

This might help with the lenses ,

and sony has a compatibility chart under various cameras in the support section.
