• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi all,

A long-time lurker, figured it was time to get involved. Been woodworking for a number of years but progress has been at such a glacial pace I'd still consider myself a beginner - going to step things up this year, build a workshop-shed and taking on more demanding projects.

I know where the search button is too, so hopefully not too many repeat questions from me... :eusa-whistle:

Dan

Hi Dan,
Welcome to the Haven from NW France. We like workshop builds around here, as you have no doubt seen, so take plenty of photos as you go along.

Thanks Andy, I will. No doubt there'll be a couple of questions arising from the build too.
I see you're in Calvados département. I lived and studied in Caen many years ago, nice part of the world.

Hi Dan and welcome aboard.

Questions are good so ask away, and we love pictures (even if we can't get them to come in the right way all the time, but we're working on that... :eusa-whistle: )

Yep we like it here. we are mid way between Caen and Cabourg. Eldest daughter currently studying at the Uni in Caen with another daughter trying her best with an online course from there.

Welcome Dan. One more post and you're over the clunky anti-spammer hurdle.

I seem to gave acquired the mantle of shed guru, so if there is anything you'd like to discuss about your proposed build, feel free. I've got a couple of "stickies" in the Workshop Build sction of the forum which might be of some use.

Hi Dan

You're not so far from me and if this is Telegraph Hill in Lewisham, my business partner has her place not far away either (so I am quite often in your area). Look forward to seeing your projects on here and will help if I can. Adrian

Thanks very much all, and what a nice warm welcome 8-) maybe I don't feel bad about posting the odd question after all (I'm sure there will be loads...)

Can't yet work out how to tag another member but:

Adrian - yep, that's the hill! And thanks for the offer. Let's see what projects emerge - got a few in the design stage right now.

MikeG - thanks, no doubt I will, got a lot of research to do first...

It is indeed a deliberate mangling of 'weekend warrior'... believe me, my worrying isn't just confined to weekends ha
Ah! Maybe once you get working with wood there might be less sources of worry. Let’s hope so.
I often find my self agonising (worrying?) over design detail when I should just get into the workshop and make some sawdust and let the drain look after itself lol

Good luck
Bob
