• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi All,
I don't think I've introduced myself.
I joined a few weeks ago but not participated yet. I'm a bit of a lurker anyway but generally have to work up to posting.
I am coming back to woodworking after a long break. This was due to my working away from home a lot and my wife taking advantage of my absence to fill my workshop with stuff. However, I'm now getting things organised again and am slowly reconnecting with the hobby.
I have been a long time member at the other place but I see now that it's not the place it once was so I think I'll be frequenting this forum more from now on.
I see there are a lot of names here that I recognise from the early days, so hi, it's good to see you again

All the best,
Bsrry

Good afternoon Barry and welcome.
I’ve kept my workshop under lock and key for many years. Although they all know where the key lives the effort required for anyone under 6’ to retrieve it puts them off :)

Couldn’t help looking up your moniker Tellurian “ an apparatus to illustrate the causation of day and night by the rotation of the earth on its axis and the dependence of the seasons on the sun's declination “. Wow.

Ooh, I didn't know that definition. I tend to choose it as deriving from telluric, one meaning of which is 'of the earth' and as a caver one could say that applies and hence Tellurian.

At least you won't be short of a suitable avatar !

LOL...it's one of the album covers from a Heavy Metal group called Tellurian.

Nearly - Soen is the band, Tellurian the album. It's rather a good one.

Welcome Barry. Has anyone said we like pictures?

A heavy metal band/album, who'd have thought it.

I shall bear the desire for pictures in mind. :D

Did I say thanks all? So many welcomes, it's nice here isn't it? :D

Very glad to see you are still around Alf, I really enjoyed your contributions and if I can get back into woodworking, anyone can.

Hi Barry
Great to hear that you are find this a welcoming little corner of the inter web. We try to always be positive about this forum and try to avoid knocking the other ww forum too much. They have their faults and we probably do too!
So its onwards and upwards on here now that you have found us

Good point. I wasn't really trying to knock them, more offer an explanation. Anyway, I've edited my post accordingly.

Thanks Barry,
There is no problem with the odd mention of UKW particularly to have included in part of your intro so my post was not meant to be a finger wag
Some folks like it here, some like it there, some post in both - I do . We are all different thankfully.

We do strive for a particularly light touch when moderating and it is made a so much easier by the decent folks round here.

If you are bored maybe have a quick look around the links on the top right of our pages. There is some useful stuff there.

Cheers
Bob
