• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

How do you store your Rasps

I have around a dozen hand cut rasps. I use them a lot so they need to be to hand. I have tried storing them on spring clips and they currently reside in a drawer. I am not a fan of either storage solution. A drawer is not a good place to get them however the spring clips were not good either too springy and a pain to put them back. I need ideas. So how do you store them? Maybe I should store them like turning tools resting on their handles and sloping back.

I keep mine in a tool roll. They all therefore come out of the drawer together when needed and back when finished.

Exactly what I was going to say. Tool-rolls are very under-rated in workshops.

The only things I have kept in a tool roll are my brace augers. I have had tool rolls for chisels but once I got a workshop I dumped the chisel roll! (Along with my tool bass)
It would need to be leather and large. It could work if I can hang the roll somewhere whilst working.

If you like the idea of them being on the wall (as I assume they were with the spring clip solution) what is wrong with a standard chisel storage setup?

Nothing wrong with it at all Steve. I am just fishing for ideas before I commit to the third attempt.

I jam em inside empty tin foil tubes and stash em all in a bank "cash bag"
Travelled from job to job for years with no damage.
Cheers, Andy

The final decision was as Steve suggested an adaption of a chisel rack. Mainly because the magnetic strip was not strong enough.
