• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

How Much??!!!? (No 2)

It’s pretty innit? Wonder how many hours went into that and thus is it expensive for what it is.
Jim bode ought to be renamed “I saw you coming “.

Yebbut it’s only 6k in £’s

& I bet it’s cheaper than if Karl Holtey had made it :eusa-think:

Yes it really is a thing of beauty, absolutely perfect, gorgeous Rosewood as well. Second hand presumably, I wonder how much it was new.
The next page shows a tree marking knife, anyone know how and why? The instructions were just unreadable.

Looks like an absolute bargain to me...

The plane is pretty. I have a couple of pretty tools and they sit on my desk. Too good to use, like my mum's dinner service.....

I had no idea that plane honing guides existed. Beats me how I have managed without one all these years.

Unquestionably and probably made in stainless steel if KH did it Rob

Just had a peruse of the Jim Bode site during coffee break. I am amazed by the prices. For example a Marples pig sticker is $145, and a set of 5 is $325. I have two drawers full of pig stickers and various old chisels from the top brands. I had a few anyway (eBay) but have been clearing out my dad's old garage gradually and he was a tool hoarder. Planes, about 60 hammers! (mostly metal work), chisels, screwdrivers, a ludicrous amount of spanners in various forms. Some very nice measuring gear, all cased. Vices - one is too heavy to lift without help. Early power tools.

My mother wanted rid and was going to give them to the scrap man (of a travelling persuasion) who was going to charge her £20 to take them away. I wanted to save a few as mementos, but I guess the rest will have to be sold as I want fewer tools not more.

You are Jacob and I claim my £5.!

If I were Jacob I would have found a way to bring politics into it by now.

I think KH would make a better job of it. Having said that he has an impressive workshop full of machines including a CNC mill, whilst that brass one looks hand made?
