• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I am here for the first time..........

Hi, I have spent a considerable length of my working career in the Middle East, where I was involved with ship inspections and cargo surveys. For a few years now I have been back in the UK (Essex) and woodworking is my favourite hobby.

If I can be of any help to anyone in The Woodhaven II please feel free to drop me a line.

With best regards to all,

Haker

Welcome Harry from NW France. i can’t imagine there are too many of us needing ship inspections or cargo surveys though:).
Do you mangle wood as well? We love photos around here so any images you have of past or present projects will go down well..

Welcome Harry from across the pond.
Dear Duke,
Many thanks for your welcome message. I have been to Canada a few times (Montreall and Vancouver) and I thought it is a beautiful country. Having said that I must also say that UK is beautiful too.
Take care and Best regards,
Harry

Dear AndyP,
Many thanks for your welcome message. It is always so nice to receive such a message. I hope you are enjoying yourself in NW France. The weather must be nice over there this time of the year. I agree with you, not much purpose for a Naval Architect in The Woodhaven II, but
you can find all of my YouTube projects, especially workshop projects, on my site: https://www.youtube.com/@Starman3539.

" 'Bout ye?" Harry. Welcome to the calm and courteous side; we get the odd 'agree to disagree' moment, but by-and-large, we just encourage each other. Not like a certain "other place"...😎

For nearly forty years I lived and worked just above Harland and Wolff and had several naval architects in my wider acquaintance circle. You boys certainly work on some tight tolerances!

Dear Sam,

First of all many thanks for your welcome to The Woodhaven II. I am overwhelmed by the welcome-messages that I have received so far. I am impressed by your location which would be a place of pilgimage for all Naval Architects, what history was made there! You are quite correct in saying that tolerances are tight when building ships, especially the bigger ones. I am here now and so I shall be very happy if I can be of any help to anyone.

Welcome from very far down South.
Dear Phil,

Many thanks for sending me your welcome-message to The Woodhaven II. I had so many welcome-messages that I feel this is the right place to be. Believe it or not I have been to your wonderful country and I had a chance to go through the Kruger Park and see so many animals in real life. Equally, the people I met there were so hospitable and happy. I am here now and so I shall be very happy if I can be of any help to anyone.

Hi Harry and welcome aboard our little corner of the internet. Glad to have you here, hope you enjoy it.
Dear Mark,
It is such a great pleasure to be in 'The Woodhaven II'. Even nicer is the number of welcome messages that I have received so far, they make one feel at home. As I mentioned already I shall be very happy if I can be of any help to anyone. My professional background has been Naval Architecture and ship-inspections, but today I find great enjoyment in making all sorts of funny devices out of wood.

Welcome Harry from Oxfordshire.
Dear John,

Thank you very much for your 'welcome-message'. Do let me know if I can be of any help to you, I do like to spend time in the workshop building relatively simple projects. Wood is such a versatile material to work with.
