Not an identical situation but my 22mm T&G chipboard flooring is sitting directly on polystyrene insulation over the concrete slab, so no option to fixe to that. It is glued so it floats as one large section. I think to be honest it is the weight of the machinery that holds it down rather than the skirting, which is only partial round the walls. No issues encountered at all so far.

The distribution board and socket ring is in, I've tidied up some wiring. In hind sight I should of used conduit singles cable (as opposed to Twin & E), as it was a struggle in places, some conduit lube too might of been handy. My sparks wasn't keen for me to use conduit cable, not sure why. I've 3 phase runs to do onto rotary isolators....then my Sparks can check, hook me up and sign off....but first I've cleaned the floor so I can get the 22mm, T&G chip board started tomorrow.

Knocked up some window cills out of left over ply and some 2x1 tanalised. I'll stick 'em & caulk 'em when the varnish is dry.

I'm aware that I'm not really showing any detailed working...do do feel free to ask questions or point out potential goofs.

I had the same trouble with Twin and E and wished I had used singles. Sorry I did not mention it earlier. Yours does look very neat and the UK boxes are far easier to wire than what we have here.

I presume this curved wall business comes from some sort of panoramic view processing from a modern camera but I would have thought that the processing algorithm would aim to detect floor/wall lines and make them straight.
Very very vague 40 year old memories from college days of "guzmann's algorithm" for this sort of thing?

Correction it was Mr Guzman. Heaven knows how my memory recalled that as i never had to code such an algorithm.

Went for a beefy metal Wylex so I've got somewhere to stick those naff holiday fridge magnets [emoji3] ...I splashed out on the consumer unit...always worth spending a bit more here, I feel

Good point on the panorama Bob.. (not so) SMaRt phones! I actually tried to get all the way round...but it gave up on me!

Got the chip board floor down yesterday, was going great until I realised I'd fired over an access point, so had to go back a few steps. The adhesive it's very similar to PU but more gloopy, and foams to a more Brittle foam which crushes and snaps like polystyrene.

Laser to set my parallel and square. There's a screw at the other end to sight off. Cheapo, but quite good Aldi digital measure to help with the perpendicular

Chalk line so I can get the lights back on...

The all important...

Wonder if kids still use these...use to love tinkering with mine when I was a nipper, combining parts to make a mega compass!

First run with access plug...

4ft level to make sure I'm not running out...

Cooking on gas...that's a broom handle in the shot, just to make sure there's no debris getting trapped under the boards as I go.

And across...

Liked to of got my joints a bit tighter, but I think once I've got a bucket of paint down and some gear in place, none will be the wiser [emoji6] A couple of chipped corners to fill with Body filler, then paint next week.

Once you get into the middle of the floor there is nothing to brace against to lever them tight. It's a pain!

Unless you use some of these ?

or you temporarily screw a batten onto the joists about 3" away from the last board and then tap folding wedges in to tighten up the floorboards/boards.

I'd lost track of your build progress, and started looking again this morning. Your drywall work brought me flashbacks of my shop. The spotted wall look was exactly like mine, and your lift was even the same color. After that, I swore I would never do drywall again.

(I bought my lift used, then sold it for the same price when done. I recommend this over renting because you aren't limited on time that way.)

I also applaud the below-floor dust collector piping. I only did a short run of that to get to the center of my shop, but it's been one of the best features I put in. I also have a 5 hp dust collector, and have had no issues with any clogging. I did accidentally suck up a rag one time, though, and I don't recall seeing it in the bin afterwards. I did manage to look in the main line of pipe though and it didn't get hung up there.

It looks great so far. I hope you have enough outlets for all your needs. I wish LED lighting had been available when I did mine, but my stuff is too new to retrofit so I'm living with it as is.

A set of those would of been very handy Roger...I think I could of put a bit more effort in perhaps with a batten and some folding wedges, as you say (Wedges, of which I have plenty, after cutting my rafters!)

Ah Kirk happy times..., nice plaster work...I too am glad to be done with the plastering I hired my lift, it was a bit last minute (£48 for the week). I think the lift and the Genie lifts (ridge beam) have been the most usual things I've ever hired! Top tip on the buy and sell when done. THIS was my plan with a new framing gas nail gun, it still might be...however... As a Furniture Maker I'm pretty fussy about how I look after my tools and cringe when I see the quality of builders and site sparky's abused tools!... MikeG mentioned somewhere about how building work wrecks your tools(?)...I SO now get this! As the nail gun fell off the roof, off the scaffold, off the ladder, down the back of stuff, got rained on, things were dropped on it...it still works...but I'll be lucky to get the return I'd hoped - It looks battered - as for my toolbox chisels, it's the grinder for them ASAP :lol:

Hopefully I've got my ducting placed right - a little stuffed if not. When SWIMBO saw all the sockets she was a bit shocked (pun not intended) at the quantity, I tried to explain as you do

My shop is a little larger than yours (22' x 26'), and I have 44 120v outlets (in 4 outlet clusters), eleven 240v 1ph outlets, and eight 240v 3ph outlets. The problem is not the number of outlets, it's the placement. I have a couple of spots where all four 120v outlets in a cluster are used. I'm thinking of running a 3ph line to the center of the shop in the dust pipe trench and putting in three 3ph outlets for the three central machines. This will get rid of two cords which cross the floor now.

As Doug said, you're not done. Where are your clamp racks? Cabinets along the upper parts of the walls? French cleat along the whole wall of the shop so you can hang stuff anywhere. Now is the time, before you start tripping over your own stuff.

Doug, You and Kirk are right...there's plenty to do and there will ALWAYS be a toy on the wish list. It sort of feels like the 'Builder' can now go home and 'Furniture Maker' can AT LAST move in

Wow...Plenty of sockets! ... I'm pretty sure I'l be ok, but Kirk you are making me doubt myself with that plentiful configuration


I've a couple of 3 ph runs to put in still, 3 maybe 4, these will pop up as SWA cable from the floor by or close to the relevant machine, surface mounted on cleats to a rotary isolator... I plan to hardwire the machines ... having put in the cable tray across the centre and 4 hatches dotted about the floor we should hopefully keep things flexible for future adjustments.
