• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Just curious re: additional log in requests

When logged in and viewing a thread with an 'internal forum link' as per:-

Selecting the featured links always results in the link opening up but in a 'visitor' mode requesting log in:

are you in private mode in your browser?
the link will open a new tab, so if you are in private mode your logged in status won't necessarily carry across to a new tab...
I have no issue clicking that exact link and it opening in a new tab without requesting any additional permissions...

No, not in "Windows Private Mode", just tried opening in New Window with same result requesting Log-In even though other windows open and showing logged-in.

If you think it is to do with "protection" it may be down to fact my browser does have protection for personal data whilst on internet banking or payment sites.

I'm running windows 10 on a laptop and have never been asked for additional log in including Roger's link in your example.

Curiouser and curiouser, just tried the imbedded link on my Android Tablet and get the same response, opens in a page requesting Log-in.

As does Laptop (Win 11)

Main computer (Win 11) is on wired connection Tablet and Laptop on WiFi.

All do run same Banking and Payment protection though so perhaps that is what is in play, although not noticed this behaviour with links on other sites.

that does sound as though it is in effect creating silos between tabs and windows - so the cookies won't share across - therefore the new tb / window doesn't know that you are already logged in...

I don’t see that behaviour on my iPhone/ipad/imac/work laptop. I think you’re right that the banking protection you have is creating a new SSL session in the new tab as Alasdair suggests.

Thanks @akirk , @TrimTheKing , No problem for me but was just curious as to why it was so, your explanations would indeed appear to be the answer, being the only common theme across all devices as my Android 'phone also has similar software installed (same company different version) and produces same results.
