• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

My partner has had a month off work to recuperate from surgery. She is due to restart in a short while.
To this end she has an appointment next week with the surgeon who will "sign off" that she is fit to restart work. So far so good. However... we also have a system of "médecins de travail", specialists in work related illnesses and injuries, initially designed for folks at high risk such as miners for example, to make sure they have the proper tests and treatments. So far also good.

However... in this socialist utopia, anything that is not forbidden has to be compulsory, otherwise there is no equality - right ? Therefore my partner, who is in an essentially zero risk profession, also has to be signed off by the médecin de travail. We live in a rural area and there is only one - and she is on holiday - so Isabelle is required to take two more weeks sick leave until the missing doctor returns to work. Her employer, who pays the sick pay of course, risks heavy fines if she restarts without the magic bit of paper.

Insanity !

Before I retired I used to manage about 50 Engineers, Technicians and Surveyors.
In my last few years "the powers that be" introduced a vastly complex computerised management system on which amongst many other things we had to record staff sickness.
So out went the simple annual leave/sickness wall chart and in came this extremely complicated and time wasting system instead.
If anybody was off sick it took hours to trawl through the system then choose the correct sickness code (176 of them including Zoonoses - I kid you not!!)
In the end, unless the person was off for several days or more, I didn't bother to record it - the health record of my group showed a great improvement! [emoji3]
