• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I don’t use the torch much but it’s useful now and again.
I have a Rothenberg torch and have always used ( two cartridges in five years) their gas.
Looking this morning, screwfix have a rothenberg cartridge for £19 and tool station have MappX for £14.
Anyone have experience of MappX ?
My brain says go with what you are familiar with, but my inner Yorkshire man is considering the fiver saving.

I've probably got the same torch, bought as a kit which included 2 Rothenburg canisters and have been looking to replace one of them.
I'm seriously considering this from Ebay though haven't pressed the buy button yet. I have a feeling gas is gas but could be wrong of course.

I have two Rottie torches: one for workshop and one for kitchen and lighting the bonfire & BBQ. I use any Mapp gas that is on offer and have found no difference whatsoever. MappX is fine - and I have a couple of spare cannisters of that in the cupboard now.

I made the mistake of buying a propane cylinder a few years back, fortunately my plumber mate bought it from me for a slight discount.
I m not watching the pennies that closely!
Proper Mapp gas is significant for brazing IMHO.

Thinking about it there may well be differences in the gas mix between brands now as original MAPP hasn't been available for some time, I think the reference is now MAPP plus,or pro etc.

I use little more thay you Lurker so I' think I'll plump for the Rottenburg as the additional cost is almost nothing spread over how long it lasts.
