• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

It is quite powerful, especially with the inertia of starting a 305mm blade in a lightweight package, I've never actually used a saw with soft-start so I don't really take much notice of it (I lie, I did a couple of cuts with a Kapex donkey's years ago). I suppose the machine is more designed for fast and rough cutting of construction timbers rather than finer joinery work hence why the soft-start is omitted.

Yeah I’ve been thinking of a couple of things, not sure yet though. Whatever it ends up being will appear on here.
 
Mark, a very good way to remember your Mom, and also a project to go with it.

My Mom passed away in the 90's and I used the money for my large machines in the workshop.
All small power tools are purchased on the basis of "it is required for home maintenance" :lol: :lol:

I had the exact opposite problem using a builders Dewalt saw a while ago.

I don't know if there was something wrong with the saw but the blade brake seemed too keen. When you took your finger off the trigger the blade braked up really quickly causing the head of the saw to dip down a bit which I found really disconcerting.
