• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I made this as my first commission piece, it's for a vintage Neumann M49 microphone, made from pine with dovetails, then coated in real leather, lined with velvet and it features brusso stop hinges and prokraft gold catches, it will be being sent out to the USA next week, there was a lot a new techniques I had to learn for this one, it was a real challenge, hope you like it, thought I'd share it before sending.

regards,

Ben.

Very Nice Ben, Shame the woodwork gets hidden, all be it to an excellent effect. I just had to look it up to see why anyone would want to put a microphone in a box like that. Having seen the price of them I now understand.

Very nice work. Given that he had an original box (crucial for value to collectors) why did he want a new one?

I'm a bit surprised he didn't want a box for the remote amp and lead as well.

thanks, he doesn't have a box at all so wanted one similar to the original.

Ah I misunderstood. You have done a first class job.

I have a couple of old Neumann tube mics dating back to my youth when I was very into analogue recording. They are both in grey painted wooden boxes - nowhere near as smart as yours. Analogue gear is so sought after now.

that's very cool, I am a life long audio geek and have been an audio engineer, what mics have you got? you are right it's very sought after because nobody is making them like they used to to the same standards,

Excellent job on the box with proper Brusso hinges but I'm intrigued as well by the brass catches...where did you source them? - Rob

thanks rob, they are from prokraft.co.uk search for 'Box Click Catch Gold or Chrome' and it should come up, very good quality for the money, it took quite a bit of searching before finding ones I liked.
