• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Migrating to Sierra

A couple (at least..there may be more) of Gotchas..

1) If you are using an elderly version of iPhoto then you have to download an iPhoto Upgrader program first. Then when you open Photos (which compared to iPhoto is a revoltingly trivial appalling lousy stupid duff program designed to be used by two-year olds) you will be asked which library do you want to open.

It is Default and not iPhoto library.

2) If you have any POP3 email accounts then quite likely that Sierra won't play nicely as many people have found. The advice given by many after searching is to delete the POP3 account from Sierra (which of course deletes your emails unless you export them).

But Zen Tech Support - being brilliant as usual - simply took me through setting up a different and more secure port. Bingo...it worked
 
When I upgraded mine way back I finished up with an iPhoto library and a Photo one.
I take a lot of video so I copy them from the camera to external hard drives (one for my PC where I use CS5 and one for my mac where I use fcpx). They stream to my phone automatically and even though I have a 1Tb SSD drive on the mac, I have to delete them regularly to gain back the space.
I very rarely use Photo except on my iPhone and it loads to it automatically (via iTunes ) when doing a back up.
My MacBook Pro is now too old for further upgrades (mid 2009 model) according to Apple.

Unfortunately it very much depends on which version of the iPhoto library you have prior to migration. Ours are too old to easily migrate.
