Mobile Bases - An Engineers View?

I'm making mobile bases for my table saw (Dewalt DW754), mitre saw (Bosch GCM8), and Bandsaw (BS300).

I want the bases to occupy as smaller footprint as possible but also be stable. I'm proposing to place castors (100mm) as far towards the corners as possible but concerned about stability - especially then the wheels are rotated under the base.

I see many instances where castors are on "outriggers", protruding beyond the base; however, I am wondering whether insetting the vertical panels of what is simply a 18mm ply box (with an internal panel to stop racking) will achieve the same result.

Am I shifting the tipping forces by doing this?

The DW745 is not particularly heavy.
The bandsaw is tall but a lot of weight sits low down.
The mitre saw will have small lathe stored in its base so the centre of gravity is very low!

Thoughts and input welcome!

I bought a Axi jacking mobile base for my TS and I find the lever castor a PITA, always in the way.

I made this for the small Axi planer thicknesser. Locking castors under each corner. 2 sheets of chipboard and corner battens. Never had problems with stability. Does not move when castors locked. I have shoved 8 foot long 10" wide chestnut boards through the thicknesser while on that base.

An engineering mate welded me up all the bases for my machines, they are made from angle iron with the 75mm locking casters also welded to the angle, I don’t like outriggers as it’s something else to trip on.

My bandsaw, planer/thicknesser and table saw were all originally on metal stands that came with them. All are now on 18mm plywood boxes with drawers in them for storage. The boxes are on castors at the corners with 2 locking and 2 not. All castors are 100mm polyprop. from Toolstation. 100mm wheels snag on rubbish on the floor but will go over with a push. Small wheels are much easier to stop with floor debris and more likely to skid than bump over.
 
I knocked this up a couple of years ago for my BS250; stable as you like. Its 18mm MRMDF underneath, just popped it together with biscuits.

On the reverse side I made space to hang spare blades.

I made a similar one for a small mortice chisel as well

I'm impressed... Mine will be more basic, although I'm proposing to make the most of the space in each base. I'll be storing a Delta Lathe in the back of one; utilising a centre partition to keep the front free for other stuff. I'll probably drill some peg holes so shelves are an option too.
