More boxes …..

Yet more boxes from the offcut stash.





Here we have burr oak veneer with wenge trimmings



Sycamore and sapele



And another ‘bits and pieces’ one from oak and rosewood



All are based on a 6mm ‘base box’ and then everything planted on as required. No sign of any movement despite no balancing veneers. I seem to get away with it (for now).

I’d say I need to get a life but there are at least two more in the pipeline!

My goodness Stuart what is an absolute lesson to the rest of us. They are all superb, and I am sure any one of us would have been as proud as punch of just one of them. Three gems is something pretty special.

Thank you for your kind words. I suppose I have to admit that boxes are a bit of a niche for me. I enjoy making them and then giving them to people who appreciate the work and effort that goes into it all. Theses 'offcut' boxes are far more work than anything I've previously done but they do tend to look quite good.

Superb Stuart. What are you lining them with?

I use leather (suede side out). Fortunate enough to have a factory leather goods shop nearby that sells small hides that aren't good enough for commercial use. Anything from £17 upwards, usually a couple of boxes from a single hide.
