• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Guys - Some advice if possible.

Im thinking of bidding on an Oak dining table on Ebay, its good quality but about 8 years old.

Im told the table surface has some minor marks etc as one would expect from a dining table of that age.

Q - How easy would it be to sand back and refinish if the marks were too awful for the wife to tolerate, with very basic woodworking knowledge/equiptment?

Thanks in advance,

Dan :D

There are better qualified than I to comment but I would be concerned about sanding the top and losing the definition between the top and the leg frames which are slightly higher. Nice design by the way. So much depends on the nature of the "minor marks". Maybe the finish is just marked and could be easily cleaned. Are there any photos of those marks?

Okay cool, no probs to sort out. For best results, sand back the whole top surface until all the marks have gone, then reapply a good tough clear varnish - lovely jubbly just the job!

:text-bravo:

Cheers Gents, the legs are raised but i think(?) it disassembles and the legs come apart from the table top so to speak... so i thinks its a uniform slab to sand. Will have a go! Thank you. :D

'Radius'...it's a classic design! Favorites are the dining table and console... Made a few custom pieces to match for a fan
