Pens, a pencil & chess pieces

My efforts over the last week, in between the other work, getting quite addictive.



First one is Oak, then a big fat pencil again in Oak, @AndyP, I think I recall, mentioned these, they are fat.. and very good, I might add, (I'll be taking orders for them soon!) a pen in Holly, the last pen is from an old antique chair leg, which I think is Walnut.

The first Oak one was finished with a MMM finish the others are finished with Cellulose SS and 2 coats of Melamine lacquer.

Also onto making the chess pieces, these came out fairly well, The King piece is wrong, it should have straight sides, but I forgot to take my reference to the shop to work to, but they are just practice pieces at the moment.

Thanks for the reminder Paul, my offspring seem to think I could turn a chess set. One of each I could cope with but the repetition of the pawns would drive be crazy. How have you, will you, do yours?

Todays effort:



I just set myself a task, I'll do one and then get onto other things for the rest of the day, I'll make another one tomorrow morning, then make a pen that I glued up today, and then work on a kitchen/dining table I'm making for a client.

I am Looking forward to making the set though, but it is strange to me, working with such small bits of wood.
