• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Photos again

Adrian, I'm being dumb. I've got the perfect solution for you. You don't need to worry about upload times as the photos will already have been uploaded. The solution is simple.

Send me your photos. I will upload them onto my Flickr account and then send you the respective codes. You simply put those codes wherever you want to in the WIPs that you have already written. You can see the photos in your text in preview and re-arrange them to your hearts content. If you're not sure how to do it...basically copy and paste the link....then I or others can help. They will all be the right way up.

Don't worry if you think they are old hat, whatever. I'd really like to read them and I'm sure the others would as well. They sound fascinating.

So....problem solved !

I do the text in word and put in a note of which photo to insert.

Copy and paste the text into the forum and then insert each photo - 4 clicks per photo.

If you’ve gone to the trouble of thinking through a WIP and taking the photos it’s not really that much of an inconvenience to spend an extra few minutes to then upload them.

just my view!

:text-+1:

I do a write up over a period of time, my WIP's are generally posted when the project has been completed.

Re-sizing of pics:
Using W-Explorer select the folder, click and select all the pics.
Right click, in drop down "Send to mail recipient"
Pop up "attach files"
Picture size "smaller:640 x 480"
Hit attach and all selected have been re-sized and added to the mail.
Right click in mail, select all, copy and then paste back to the folder or a new folder.
All the pics are now smaller and easier to upload to WH2 or UKW, and insert into the WIP post.

I have converted up to 50 pics one shot like this.

I must have uploaded more photos than anyone else on the forum, and I've never had the slightest problem, because I host them on Imgur. Drag-and-drop them there (you can auto-resize in the process), and then just paste the URL into your post. Those who worry that this will come unstuck in the way Photobucket did have been saying the same thing for probably 10 years now.

Ditto my use of Flickr although I have opted for the Pro option with sub. My suggestion to Adrian is perfect as it removes all his concerns re photos in his WIPs - which hopefully we shall all be seeing soon.

I can't post photos, every time I click to submit it takes me back to login.

First thing to check is are you actually logged in to start with and ideally tick the box Keep me logged in to avoid future difficulties.

Note just because to can view the forum does not mean you are logged in.

Phil, I've had a message from the boss!

Almost certainly a device specific issue that one. Needs to clear his cache of all thing TWH2. I'm always loathed to tell people to completely clear the cache because of stored passwords etc so there are ways to go into the cache/cookies and search for anything TWH2 related and clear just those, but he'd probably need talking through it depending which browser he's on.

I'm almost certain that will clear that issue, it isn't forum specific.

It appears that selective editing of Chrome cache is not at all easy. If you depend on the cache to remember passwords, Then within Chrome go to the menu, three dots top right. Scroll down to Password and Auto fill, then Google password manager and write down important passwords.
Then clear browsing data.

I do know that despite ostensibly the current version of, say, the operating system - be it OSX or Widoze - being the same on two differet computers, there are subtle differences.

For example, LOML has the same model iMac as mine. Bought within a few months of each other. Both nominally on the same version of OSX but there are subtle differences between the two. Could explain, for example, the difficulty Adrian has - even under instruction from Mark.

Trying it in Edge takes me to log in even quicker - as I select the photo. In Chrome at least it kooks as if it'll post.
THis is very strange. Have you got any virus protection installed? Try try turning off for the duration of a single experiment. If that does not work the only thing I can suggest is that you open a new account using Chrome with a slightly different user name (but one that you would be happy with). It might take a day or so to get it set up and then try it again.

I can only apologise for the hassle.

Adrian, can you please explain to the forum why, now that all your objections and difficulties in posting photos and WIPs have been addressed by myself and other members, that "I have not been back to that topic since then as I felt it was done for me. The time has passed. " ?

How does your unwillingness to contribute your WIPs that you have already prepared help the forum grow ?
