Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

That is one hell of a collection! I gave up looking at page 7.
Not my sort of thing anyway, I've only got a small number of doors that might need propping open :lol:

Wondering who Roy Turnage was, a quick search led me to this local paper report, which does show the scale of the collection rather graphically

Although the collection is huge, and many lots are undoubtedly rare and valuable, I can't help but think it's too much for living dealers, collectors and users to absorb at one time. Are there enough committed, deep-pocketed Norris collectors around to buy so many at once? I get the impression that the auctioneers got tired of naming and counting towards the end.
And I also wonder if the lots that consist of less collectable tools that are still useful to users will get anything like their usual eBay prices? Maybe it's worth a punt for a user in need of something relatively ordinary.

I seem to remember saying something similar to what I’m about to say quite a while ago, possibly on UKW, you’ve got to wonder, if something is reasonably rare like those Norris planes and then all of a sudden a couple dozen of them come onto the market surely that seriously affects the value of any others too? Also this was just one collector, I can guarantee there are more and even more serious ones with larger collections.

Do you notice how, on page 1, it's got things like "A fine G Entwistle gunmetal chariot plane" but by page 6 the titles have degenerated to, e.g. "A collection of tools". Do you think the auctioneer was getting bored? :lol:

I've got the same one for a steam toy workshop.
I'm so glad to see Roy is still with us as I'd seen the auction and feared the worst.
I've been an occasional acquaintance of Roy for many years when seeing him at the Auctions and this collection does not surprise me at all.
There's some great bits and pieces in here but from what I've read there is no viewing allowed and if you are dropping big money for stuff a proper description and warranty on that description is a must.
Just remember that If you get carried away the commission and subsequent charges are substantial.

Ah! silly me, I had not realised the bed was going to be finished.
I thought it was a bit like Gibbs's boat in NCIS :lol:
Not that I watch it but SWMBO always seems to have it on so I see bits from time to time
