Garden table back from the pressure tanalisers



As I have to palletise these to go in the pressure chamber I make the table so it can be disassembled.
This one will have a Corian top as it’s for a fancy cheese on toast oven & they want a surface they can prepare the pizza dough on, finished top size is 1400x650mm.
Dropped it off Monday at the tanalisers & picked it up yesterday so very quick service, I’ll loosely assemble it today & leave it to dry out before fitting the top.

@Doug I’ve never seen anywhere that offers a tantalising service. Is it a timber merchant that loads your item in with the timber they process or offered as a standalone service?

Sounds like a good service, Doug. As Robert said, I know of no tanalising done on small lots over here either.

@Blackswanwood , @duke the timber merchants I use has a few different companies all centred around timber, there’s the timber merchants, a fencing merchants, a joinery business, a pellet fuel manufacturing plant & a fence manufacturing business all based on two sites.
If I want anything tanalising I just drop it off at the timber yard & it’s sent to the fence making site where they have pressure chamber, that’s why it has to be palletised. I imagine my pallet is just loaded in with all the fencing etc that is being tanalised that day, it’s certainly inexpensive so my job would not be done individually.
The whole shooting match is family run which is probably why they can offer the services they do. That said it’s not a service I’ve seen them advertise but as a long standing account holder it’s a service they extend to myself & probably other account holders.

Took a little longer than I hoped to dry sufficiently to reassemble but here it is with the top in place.

When you get it ready on your pallet do you separate the different component layers with some 'sticks'? I'm thinking you'd have to so the treatment gets fully between the layers. Just wondering about the areas they sticks are placed in and if they reduce the amount of treatment that the wood takes in ...

Yes Frank, if you look at the pallet photo the sticks are visible running inline with the strapping, as it’s pressure injected the solution manages to get under where the sticks touch though not quite as well as the rest of the wood, I do try & keep the sticks as small as possible.
