• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I just received this via email. Have ordered some. The price in the ad is the pre-discount price.

I can recommend their cutters.

Thanks Malc. These aren't cutters I generally use very often, but I've ordered a couple on your recommendation because I'll be doing quite a lot of cutting-to-templates in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the heads up some very competitive prices there, for several things I'm long overdue to replace.

No 8mm shanks though.
I've no idea why. My old Trend was supplied with 1/4" and 8mm collets years ago, but my Makita and Rutland only ever came with 1/4", and my Triton only with 1/2".

I notice they do 8mm shanks on just straight cutters and 10mm shanks on dowell drill cutters.

I think that 8mm should now become standard rather than 1/4 as it is a good size if you want to use a smaller router rather than your large 1/2 one. With 8mm it allows more task to be performed so more overlap with the bigger router as it is more rigid with longer bits. The Bosch GKF600 only has 1/4 collets in the UK version but 8mm collets for the euro market because they have different armatures, why !! I now use a Dewalt 26204 which is really good.

My small Makita router (the cordless trim router) came with 1/4" (6.35 mm) and 8 mm collets; I try to buy 8 mm if I can (just because it feels like they'd be more robust) but there's a lot more choice in 1/4".

My big Makita router came with some different ones as well, but I can't remember whether 8 mm was included.

It's been a while since I used either (I try to avoid electric routers if I can) so my memory of collet options is a bit vague.

you didn't hold back!!
Some of the members on here are quite profligate!
At those prices I couldn't help myself, I recently bought a Titman one, cost me £25.00, 1 of these was £9.00,

I use these types of cutters regularly for setting hinges and keeps on doors, cleaning up haunched mortices, as well as lots of other small templating jobs, so this lot should keep me going for while..
