• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. Quick question regarding VCL

Hi all,

Just a quick question regarding a VCL on my current workshop build. I have lots (47 nearly full rolls) of Cromar Vent 3 breathable membrane that I got for virtually no money, so I'm wondering if it could be used as a VCL on the inside walls and ceiling? I know a VLC is cheap enough but I've already got the membrane.

No, that sort of stuff goes on the outside of the roof and frame, not the inside. If you use an internal lining of OSB or ply, then you don't need any sort of additional vapour barrier on the inside face of the studs.
 
Thanks for the reply Mike. I'm not sure what my lining will be (probably 5x1 softwood) so I'm going to use a VCL anyway. I know that the membrane is for exterior walls and roofs but assumed or hoped as the membrane is waterproof and airtight in one direction that it would be fine to use as VCL, if need be I'll buy a proper VCL sheet.
