• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Thought I might get a 'spare' but therein lies the dilemma. Loads all around the same price "Two for £41" etc but the description says "Fits Milwaukee". So not genuine Milwaukee. But Milwaukee genuine comes out nearer £60 just for one. Both types Made in China - where else.

So which way would you guys jump ? I can't decide.
 
Keep your eyes open for a promotion on genuine as well as deals on a new tool of some type with two batteries included

There are just too many cheap shortcut compromises that can be taken by clone makers. At least the genuine ones will have been made in China to Milwaukee quality control and have a warranty.

I now do not buy clones. Been burnt a few times with poor charging, reduced capacity and either tool or charger noting that the clone does not have the correct chip in it. Makita clones are dreadful for this in my experience.

I have a few Milwaukee 5AH batteries and they are still going strong after 5 years. I think that on that basis I would buy the genuine item.
 
i have been in your position. i have snap on 18v drill and 1/2 drive impact gun, witch i bought about 10+ years ago. its been used heavily every day for my work. grate tools but now they cant supply me batterys due to them not importing the lithium in to the country ( not sure why but this is what the dealer has told me)
instead of trading in my tools that have taken some abuse over the years but and are still good working order minus the dead battery, and spending a ton to get new updated replacements. the dealer pointed me in to the direction of the cheap knock off brands of batterys. i ordered one lasted a full year of heavy use every day i recently order 4 not long ago so i can have one on charge all the time while using the others.
in my opinion these battery are a lot better than i expected. in my experience if you start to feel the battery going flat and are disciplined in stopping using it soon as there is a niggle that is starting to flatten and put it on charge then it will last a lot longer.
at the price tag of 38 quid if it last me a year of heavy use every day for a year i can live with that.

all this being said i cannot speek for Milwaukee never owned one, the lads in the works shop use them but dont know any of them to have a counterfeit battery.
 
I had a pile of fakes from several sellers and never had a problem. That was until one leaked while charging on an OEM charger. Having seen numerous horror stories about fires I ditched the lot and bought originals. Batteries are a cash cow for the manufacturers... but one they don't want to end so I'm pretty confident the'll be the safest option.
