• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

The bottom of my router table is a storage area (cavity)

I keep the second router there as well as the jigsaw, drill, electric hand planer and the two sanders.
And also the dowel jig, and cases with the various screwdriver bits etc.
The problem I have is that when I need something, I have to go down on one knee (the good one) or sit on the floor (got to get up again!) to get it out.
So I decided that a slide out draw would be ideal.
The base is made from some chipboard and I had some old draw slides to fit underneath.

Fitting the slides

Slides fitted with some gutter bolts

To be able to bolt the slides down, I needed access to the bottom of the cabinet. The whole construction is quite heavy so it needed some jacking up.

Tightening the bolts on the slides, again just used gutter bolts

This is the front that will be screwed on last, with some corner pieces for stability.

Clamp and glueing some corner supports

Loaded with most of what needs to go in.
Unfortunately lost some height with the base and rails, the Ryobi case can’t stand upright anymore.

Draw closed.

The runners have to go somewhere, ether under the drawer reducing the height on on the sides reducing the width. I think for heavy loads the bottom mounting is the best option, removing the need for really strong bottom to side joints.
It looks a good solution that makes accessing the stored kit much easier on the knees.
